TRAVEL BLOG:

This Tumblr was maintained as a travel blog for my year abroad in Italy (2008-2009). For those of you who want to read about my adventures abroad, starting from the very beginning, you may read everything I have posted about Italy in general, about my semester in Rome, or in Milan.

Home Sweet Home

After a very long and boring transatlantic flight, and a few days with my lovely boyfriend, I’m back home just in time for a good ol’ American independence day.

Tomorrow I will be spending the day with my little brother (who had a growth spurt and is now taller than me, at the age of 12) and my stepfather. We’ll be going to a friend’s house and watching fireworks and grilling. I’m really back in the US of A.

It’s good to be back, but I miss things about Italy already. I miss the public transportation, the gelato, the aperitivi, the way people walk, the prosciutto, and especially, the old people who congregate and talk on the sides of the street. There’s too much space in the US, but I’m happy to have a dryer and to be driving my car again. I’m happy to be able to ask for anything without preparing myself first, happy to know the language, happy not to be a foreigner. But, I suppose, all that comfort will become boring as time goes on, and I’ll want to immerse myself elsewhere. We’ll see!

As far as this Tumblr goes, I think it’s time to say goodbye. I might post one or two more things that are relevant to my study abroad experience in the near future, but Tumblarity has really put me off to Tumblr. Plus it’s just not productive!

So farewell, thanks for reading my travel blog, and safe travels to all!
